Reflections

Reflecting on experiences and lessons is a vital aspect of learning and applying what one has learned to their life. This semester, I have written two insightful reflections that have helped me develop the skill of maintaining healthy relationships and taking care of my mental health.

Jack.org Mental Health Talk Reflection

Through the Jack.org Mental Health Talk I learned about the importance of self-compassion and treating oneself with the same kindness we would offer to a friend. I realized that constantly putting myself down over small mistakes is unnecessary because everyone makes mistakes, and it's a natural part of life. Since then, I've been working on changing my mindset and not being so hard on myself. I've started viewing my mistakes as opportunities for growth rather than as failures. In the future, I want to continue seeing mistakes in a positive light, as it can help me develop a stronger sense of resilience.

In the words of Dennis Brown, "No problem is too big or too small." Extending this statement, all problems, regardless of their size, deserve attention and resolution.

As George Ward pointed out, not all friendships are equal; some friendships may hold people back, drag them down, and prevent them from realizing their full potential.

Reach Ahead Presentation

In the words of George Ward, "Never feel bad for making yourself feel better". This statement reflects how establishing boundaries for your well-being doesn't make you a bad friend; true friends respect each other's boundaries and emotions.

Reach Ahead Presentation Reflection

After attending George Ward's Reach Ahead presentation, I gained a deep understanding of the importance of setting boundaries in friendships to nurture healthy relationships. In the past, I found myself in uncomfortable situations, feeling responsible for my friends' mental well-being, which took a toll on my mental health. Now, I am actively working on establishing boundaries while still being a source of support for my friends, ensuring the stability of my friendships. This understanding of setting boundaries will undoubtedly be invaluable to me in maintaining professional relationships in the workplace.
